In 1991 Weld Plus was started by Jack Schroeder and Paul Rensing working out of Jack’s basement and garage. Paul is now the President of Weld Plus with over 25 employees working out of a 44,000 square foot facility on the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio. Previous to Weld Plus, Paul sold for a local welding distributor for 8 years and before that he owned and operated a small construction firm specializing in replacement windows. He has a total of 23 years of welding experience. Paul attended the University of Cincinnati and is an expert in welding processes and welding automation. Paul started a rigorous training program to further develop the overall skills of the entire staff. Expanded business levels and advancement of employees via a "Promote from Within" program have kept training at a steady pace. Paul enjoys golf and attending his son’s various sporting events.

Melissa started with Weld Plus in 2002 after returning to Cincinnati and joined the family business to help with marketing. Melissa is founder Jack Schroeder's daughter. Along with holding the title of Vice President, she now is involved with the accounts receivables and inside sales. Previous to joining Weld Plus, Melissa owned and operated Em’s Sourdough Bread Company while raising a family in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Miami University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business. She's attended the Miller School of welding. Melissa enjoys golf, tennis, traveling and synchronized swimming. |

Pete has been involved in the welding industry for over 22 years. After attending the University of Cincinnati, Pete worked at the Ashland Oil Company.
After leaving Ashland, Pete joined a local company selling welding supplies and equipment. Pete joined Weld Plus in 1991 and immediately made an impact selling welding and positioning solutions to a rapidly expanding customer base. Pete is now our Operations Manager and is constantly teaching the inside salespeople the intricacies of welding positioning equipment. Pete is certainly an expert in the field of finding the right positioning machine to fit your welding application. Pete enjoys golf, hunting and fishing.

Steve was hired as our driver in 1992, becoming the fourth member of the staff to join Weld Plus. Steve is now the main counter salesman and also fills in when necessary with inside sales and delivery. Previous to Weld Plus, Steve was part owner of a flooring supply distributorship and also a courier. Steve attended Cincinnati Technical College and has taken sales seminar courses. Steve enjoys yard work, gardening, golf and photography.

Rick Brown

After attending UC in the Electro Mechanical Engineering School, Rick worked for the Engineering Department for a Hotel Management Company. He joined the welding industry in 1976 and worked in all of the following departments: warehouse management, fill plant management, counter sales, quality control, purchasing, inside sales, customer service management. Needless to say, Rick has a wealth of expertise and experience in the industry. Rick joined Weld Plus in 1998 as an Inside Sales person and customer service. Rick specializes in Metallurgy, weld metal specifications and AWS specifications. Rick enjoys music, golf and gardening. |

Dennis has been in the welding supply business for over 29 years. Prior to that he worked 5 years in the medical gases and respiratory therapy field. Dennis joined Weld Plus in 1996 as an outside salesperson. Dennis came up with the idea and established the Weld Plus web site in 1996 and later volunteered to come inside and manage the web site sales and help with inside sales. He is knowledgeable in welding applications. Dennis enjoys spending time with his family, photography and website designs.

Todd was our first co-op student. He started with Weld Plus in 1998 in the service department while he was a student at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. Todd is probably the best overhead crane operator we have ever had! Todd graduated in 2003 with an Electro-Mechanical Engineering Degree. He is now in inside sales and is an expert in welding applications! Todd enjoys auto repair and riding his motorcycle.

Tom joined Weld Plus in 2005 working in the warehouse. After only one year in the warehouse he became assistant to the shipping manager. Early in 2007 Tom became part of the inside sales staff. He handles the used equipment inventory, internet sales and order entry. Tom enjoys music, paintball, off-roading and outdoor activities.

Doug has been in the business for over 26 years. In 1980 Doug worked for a local welding distributor and then joined Weld Plus in 1994. Doug has a great ability to teach his customers the newest applications that come out on the market. Doug also has given some welding classes to the Weld Plus staff. He is our expert in Sub-Arc, cold and hot wire TIG welding and pulse MIG welding. Doug’s hobbies include boating, rappelling, scuba diving and camping.

With over 32 years of experience, Terry is a very experienced
salesperson. In 1974 Terry worked in the warehouse of a local welding distributor with our founder, Jack Schroeder. Terry started outside sales in 1978. Jack asked Terry to join Weld Plus in 1992 where Terry’s technical expertise has become an invaluable asset to Weld Plus. Terry enjoys gardening and golf.

Bill has been an outside salesman for Weld Plus since 1999 and has over 15 years experience in the welding industry. His knowledge and expertise have provided customers with welding systems that are unique and innovative solutions to their welding demands. Bill has extensive training and experience on the most current technology regarding Submerged Arc Welding. He has experience in dealing with the Canadian market as well as companies abroad. Bill serves on the Advisory Board for several local Vocational Schools and is intrumental in promoting the future of welding. He enjoys running, coacing and spending time with his family.

Jared joined Weld Plus in 2004 working in the warehouse. Jared learned each piece of equipment by cleaning it, sanding it and sometimes repairing it. Jared also mastered the computer entry programs and the ins and outs of shipping large equipment fast. He moved to an inside sales position and handled the bulk of internet calls. Jared joined the outside sales team at the beginning of 2007. Jared enjoys sports, camping and cars. |

Jeff has over 19 years experience in the welding industry and joined Weld Plus in 1996. Jeff and his staff continue to set the standard in the industry in reconditioned welding equipment. Jeff leads the technicians that repair and rebuild our rental equipment and used equipment sales. Jeff graduated from Cincinnati Technical College in 1990 in Sales and Marketing. Jeff enjoys working on his house and spending time with his family.

Ed started at Weld Plus in 1994 at an entry level warehouse position. He is now the Shipping Manager. Ed is an integral part of our business, arranging shipping locally and internationally. Before Weld Plus, Ed was a glass maker, artist, salesman and a ComAir employee. Ed is very involved with the Boy Scouts.

Rick has been in the welding supply business for over 21 years. After graduating from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1973 and attaining his CPA, Rick was an assistant controller for a Pay subscription Television station and then a local welding distributor. Rick joined Weld Plus in 1999 as a controller and has been a strong asset in organizing all accounting functions.
